Interesting topic. I believe that there is other life out there. To think we are the be-all and end-all is rather arrogant IMHO. If a god created it all it does not seem to make sense for this to be the only planet with life on it. If it got here by a big bang or some other theory of choice, I still don't see how this would negate the possibility of some form of life out there. Just because we haven't discovered it YET, does not mean it doesn't exist. (commence booing and throwing tomatoes now lol) - Leslie -

Are We the Only Life in this vast Galaxy?
by frankiespeakin in.
well i say the same condition for life evolving are relatively repeated over and over again in perhpas billions of solar systems with different combinations of chemical reactions producing all kind of self replicating molecules not just carbon based or dna based.
many stars having a much earlier formation and intelligent life much more before our earth was formed billions of years ago.. .

What a sad outcome. I feel so bad for the family. It always pains me to see outcomes like this whether or not the person was/is a JW. She was so young. -Leslie-

I to have a missing but NEVER found family member, very painful indeed! RIP Whitney!
by haboob48 ini am at such a loss for words, i have stared at this screen for about an hour not knowing how to address this.
i feel for the family of this young woman and any way you slice it, closure or no closure, it is the same.
i will however say that the said missing person had just went through a disfellowshipping and divorce, and there was a dispute over property.

Deepest sympathy to you and your family. Never knowing what happened or where they are must be unbearable at times.
(PS. I sent you a PM. To access, click on the little blue envelope at the top right of the page. If you get an error mssg., click the arrow top left to go back and then re-click on the envelope. Wasn't sure if anybody told you this already so thought I'd share ) -Leslie-

Very sad story. I had the same thought run through my mind as pmljohn and Shirley W. If it is a staged escape that would still be better than the alternative. I hope that she is found safe and sound. -Leslie-

Welcome Jetsetter: My heart goes out to you. I don't know what the laws are for commom-law relationships in your area. In some areas you are considered "married" if you are living together as husband & wife. Please find out so that you don't end up financially responsible for this person when it's finally over. Welcome Kate. So glad that you have come to the forum before committing yourself to this high control religion. As others have asked, why do you want to become a part of this particular religion? I spent 48 years in this religion and when I decided it was not the "Truth" I left. The friends I had known my whole life were now shunning me as were my own 2 adult children. Please research outside of the sugar-coated version of the religion that the JW's would like you to believe. You will save yourself years of frustration and emotional devastation. Leslie

newbie here - i need advice
by kassad84 inhello, i've been lurking in this forums for a while but its only now that i've created an account.
i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.
my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.

Welcome Kassad84. The above posters have given good advice. You are not alone and we will not judge you as the Wt. would. There is no need to feel guilty about something the Bible does not condemn. As to the loneliness, there are many wonderful "worldly" moral people out here. Jgnat had some very good suggestions on where to go to make friends outside of the organization. We look forward to hearing more about you when you are ready to share. Leslie
